Cookie policy

This page explains what EvelopCars stores in your browser and why. Cookies that are not strictly necessary — measurement and advertising — are only set after you accept them in the banner shown on your first visit. If you decline, they are not set and any existing ones are cleared.

Strictly necessary

These are always active because the site cannot work without them. They are not used for advertising.

• Session cookie — keeps you signed in when you choose to create an account. Removed when you sign out.
• Security tokens — protect sign-in and checkout against cross-site request forgery.
• evelop-session — a random identifier stored in your browser that links the steps of a single visit (registration lookup, report, purchase) so we can support your order and count how many visits end in a completed check. It contains no name, email or account data.
• evelop-consent — remembers the choice you made in the cookie banner so we do not ask again.

Measurement (analytics)

With your consent we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and vehicle checks are useful. It sets cookies named _ga and _ga_* (and in some configurations _gid) containing a randomly generated identifier. We do not send your name, email address or registration number to Google as an identifier, and we do not use these cookies to build an advertising profile of you on other websites.

Advertising

We advertise EvelopCars on Google, and we may test advertising on Meta (Facebook and Instagram). With your consent these platforms set cookies so that a check bought on this site can be matched back to the advert that brought you here. Without this we cannot tell which adverts pay for themselves.

• _gcl_au, _gcl_aw and related _gcl_* cookies — set by Google to attribute a purchase to a Google advert click.
• _fbp and _fbc — set by Meta to attribute a purchase to a Facebook or Instagram advert click. _fbc only exists if you arrived from a Meta advert link.
• evelop-attributed — a local marker recording that we have already stored the advert details for this visit, so we do not record them twice.

When you arrive from an advert we store the click identifiers in the URL (such as gclid, gbraid, wbraid, fbclid and any utm_ parameters), the page you landed on, the referring site, your IP address and browser user-agent, against the random evelop-session identifier described above. If you later buy a check, our server sends the purchase value, a hashed (irreversible) form of your email address, and your IP address and user-agent to Google Analytics and Meta so the sale can be matched to the advert. Advert attribution records are deleted after 90 days. Your IP address and user-agent are held only for that matching and are never used to identify you personally on this site.

Where measurement or advertising consent is declined, Google's consent mode is applied: identifiers are redacted and no advertising cookies are written. Google and Meta act as independent controllers for the data they receive; their own privacy policies apply to it.

Payment

When you proceed to checkout, our payment processor may set its own cookies on its own pages to secure the transaction and detect fraud. Those cookies are governed by the processor's own policy.

Changing your choice

You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser (Settings → Privacy → Cookies and site data), which removes the stored consent and makes the banner appear again on your next visit. You can also block or delete cookies entirely through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in or completing a purchase, but the free vehicle preview will continue to work.

Declining measurement and advertising cookies does not change the price you pay or the data in your report.
